What it is for in figure painting

What to pair it with
Shade with Burnt Red or a dark brown; highlight with Medium Orange and Light Orange. With Ocher Orange you get an earthier, more muted tone.
Frequently asked questions
How do I build convincing rust?
Three or four tones: Dark Rust as the base, Burn Orange as the mid tone, Light Rust and Light Orange at the brightest points. Rust in one colour always looks flat.
Can it be used as a clothing colour?
Yes, on coarse and aged fabrics. For bright clothing it is too dark and earthy.
How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
