What it is for in figure painting

Frequently asked questions
How much medium should I add?
Start at one to one and adjust. More medium means a stronger metal sheen but weaker colour.
Why not just buy a ready-made metallic?
If one exists in the shade you want, do. Metal Medium is the answer when you need a metal sheen in a shade no metallic is made in.
How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
