Marine Iguana – 3D printed resin figure, 1/16 scale, ready to paint. Printed to order, ships within 7 days.

A marine iguana hauls itself onto a lava rock – exactly the pose these lizards take when basking after a dive. It is the only lizard in the world that feeds on algae in the sea, and it lives only on the Galápagos. A 1/16 scale is generous for an animal this size: the scales, the dorsal spines and the skin folds on the neck are large enough to paint one by one.

Scale and format

The model is 1/16 scale. The model comes with its own sculpted rock as a base, printed as part of the figure.

Recommended paints

Marine iguanas are mostly black to dark grey; in the breeding season males develop reddish and greenish patches. The rock is volcanic lava:

Printing and preparation

We print the model on an 8K resin 3D printer in high quality, so even the finest details are preserved. The printed model is cleaned, cured and ready for priming and painting. Supports and their marks are removed.

We print our figures ourselves on an 8K resin printer. Some pieces are already printed and ship right away. If this figure is not printed yet, we ship it within 7 days of your order. When you pay by bank transfer, the 7 days start once the payment reaches our account.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the figure?
An adult marine iguana is typically 60 cm to 1 metre long including the tail, large males even more. At 1/16 scale that gives a model of roughly 4 to 7 cm.

Is the figure painted?
No. The figure comes unpainted in a single resin colour – the colours in the photos show how it can look once painted.

Does it need any preparation before painting?
The model is cleaned and cured after printing and the supports are removed. We recommend applying a primer before painting – paint adheres better and the details stand out.

When will you ship it?
If it is already printed, it ships right away. If not, we print it and ship it within 7 days of your order; with bank transfer, within 7 days of receiving your payment.
