White from the AK 3rd Generation Intense range – a high-pigment white for highlights, winter schemes and mixing. Matt acrylic.

This white belongs to the Intense range, which AK marks with a yellow circle on the label – shades with higher pigment purity and concentration. On a white that difference is obvious: it covers markedly better than ordinary white acrylics and lacks the grey cast that whites often keep once thinned.

What it is for in figure painting

  • Top highlights – edges, blade tips and the points that catch the most light.
  • Winter schemes – snow, white cloaks and winter camouflage.
  • Mixing – lightening any shade without muddying it.
  • Eyes and teeth – small areas where single-coat coverage matters.

What to pair it with

Mix with Basic Skin Tone for flesh highlights and with Silver for metal. For a warmer white, a drop of Ivory is enough.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Intense range differ from Standard?
Intense shades carry a higher concentration and purity of pigment, so they are more saturated and cover better. The label has a yellow circle; Standard has an orange one.

Does white cover over black?
Better than most whites, but not in one coat. Build two or three thin coats – one thick coat will clog the detail.

How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
