Size 2 of the NOVA Series 1875 is the largest of the small long-handled filberts: 11.0 mm of fibre, 4.0 mm wide, 292 mm overall. Compared with sizes 0 and 1 it is a millimetre longer and a millimetre wider, which on a filbert means a noticeably bigger footprint per stroke.
It is a synthetic brush in the extra-fine gold-coloured fibre also used for NOVA 1375 and 1570. The long green handle makes it a brush for working at a distance: busts, vehicles, dioramas, large monsters and terrain pieces.

The short-handled sibling NOVA 1375 size 2 has the same 11.0 mm fibre, but is half a millimetre wider (4.5 mm) and 190 mm long. For figures held in the hand it is the more comfortable choice.
Series 1875 size 2 is for work where the model is on a stand or on the desk in front of you and your hand is in the air. For detail and final layers, switch to a round sable – for example MAESTRO 35 – or to the flat Kolinsky MAESTRO 1301.
How big is the step up from size 1?
The fibre is 1.0 mm longer (11.0 vs 10.0 mm) and the brush is 1.0 mm wider (4.0 vs 3.0 mm). On a filbert that is a noticeably bigger area per stroke.
What is the long handle for when painting a bust?
The bust stands on a stand at eye level and you paint with your hand in the air. The longer handle balances the brush and spreads the pressure – the stroke is lighter and blends come out softer.
Is the brush vegan?
Yes. NOVA is a fully synthetic fibre with no animal hair.
How do I look after it?
Wash it in lukewarm water with brush soap, reshape the tip and dry it flat. Do not let paint dry in the ferrule and avoid hot water.
