Dark Magenta is a dark magenta with a wine core – the deepest point of the magenta ladder. It is one of the most versatile shading colours in the range: it sits under pinks, violets and reds alike, and gives dark areas colour instead of plain darkness.

When do I use Dark Magenta and when Wine Red?
Dark Magenta is pinker and cooler, Wine Red redder and warmer. Use Dark Magenta to shade pinks and violets, Wine Red to shade clean reds.
Can I use it as a glaze?
Yes, and it is an excellent one. Heavily thinned it deepens shadows on any warm colour without dirtying it.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
