What it is for in figure painting

What to pair it with
Shade with Ochre or Green Ochre; highlight with Sahara Yellow and Dark Sand. A drop of grey pushes it further into grime.
Frequently asked questions
How do I paint faded yellow markings?
Base in Deep Yellow and lay Dirty Yellow over it unevenly, leaving gaps. The irregularity is what reads as wear.
Is Dirty Yellow good for dry grass?
Very much so – especially mixed with Green Ochre and Dark Sand. Dry grass is never one colour.
How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
