Peach from the Ionic Smart Colors range – a bright amber orange for fire effects and accents. Matt 20 ml acrylic.

Despite the name, Peach is not a soft pastel – it is a bright amber orange with strong pigment. On a figure it reads as firelight or a setting sun. If you are after a pale peachy flesh tone, reach for Light Golden Flesh instead.

What it is good for on miniatures

  • Fire effects – the warm mid point between a yellow core and a red edge.
  • Glowing lanterns and forges – lighting nearby surfaces from below.
  • Saturated orange cloth – where orange is meant to shout.
  • Lightening reds – without the shift towards pink that white would cause.

What to combine it with

Build shadows with Orange, transitions and highlights with Sun Stone and Flame Orange.

Frequently asked questions

Is the name misleading?
A little – in the original palette it refers to the colour of a ripe peach in the sun, not to a pastel tone. Do not buy it as a flesh colour.

Does it cover a dark surface?
In two coats, yes, which is good for an orange. Over black it is still worth basing with a yellow first.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
