Purple is a classic mid violet – balanced between the blue and red sides of the spectrum. It is the core violet of the range: saturated enough to be a main colour, neutral enough to shade and highlight without the hue drifting.

How do I build a violet ladder?
Base with Purple, shade with Deep Violet and Dark Violet, highlight with Blue Violet and Light Lavender. Violet takes plenty of contrast – three steps in each direction is not excessive.
Why does violet look grey on my figure?
Usually because it was lightened with white. Violet has to be highlighted through lighter violets, otherwise it loses saturation at the first step.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
