Sun Stone is an amber tone sitting exactly halfway between yellow and orange. It is the colour of fire at the point where it is no longer white but not yet red – which is why it appears in every decent flame transition. Away from fire it works for amber, honey and sunset gold.

Build shadows with Peach and Orange, transitions and highlights with Flame Orange and Light Orange.
In what order do I paint a flame?
From the outside in: red, Sun Stone, yellow, white core. Every transition has to be soft – hard edges give the painting away immediately.
Is Sun Stone a yellow or an orange?
It is between the two. On a figure it behaves as a warm yellow, in a flame transition as a cool orange – depending on what sits next to it.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
