White is a clean neutral white with neither a warm nor a cool cast. With whites what matters is opacity, and Ionic has plenty of it – one pass holds on an edge, and when mixing it does not go grey as fast as thin white acrylics do. This is the bottle you will empty first.

What it is good for on miniatures
- Extreme highlights – the last point on armour edges, bone and metal where the eye should catch a glint.
- Eyes and teeth – the white of the eye and the tips of teeth; apply with the tip of the brush and do not drag it.
- Lightening other colours – the base of every highlight ladder – add it drop by drop, never all at once.
- White cloth and cloaks – over a light base it covers in two thin coats with no graininess.
What to combine it with
This is the lightest point of the palette – build shadows with Pearl Grey and Fog Grey.
Frequently asked questions
Why does white look grainy on my model?
Almost always because the coat is too thick. Thin white more than other colours and put it on in two or three light passes – the coverage will be the same but the surface stays smooth.
Should I use White or Albus White?
White is the pure white for final highlights. Albus White is softer and works where white should read as cloth or bone rather than as a glint.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
