What to pair it with
Dose paint and thinner with the AK614 pipettes. For acrylics over a long session a wet palette is more practical, and for quick mixing the flat ten-well aluminium palette. Thinners are in the Thinners and Cleaners category.
Frequently asked questions
How are the wells cleaned?
Acrylic washes out with water straight after use, and dried acrylic softens in acrylic cleaner. Enamels and lacquers come out with their own thinner. Metal will also take a scrape, so nothing is lost to a forgotten mix.
How do they differ from an aluminium palette?
A palette is one piece with dimples – fast and easy to read, but everything stays together on it. Wells are separate, can be covered and set aside, so an unfinished mix survives a break.
Do they hold enough paint?
Plenty for work on a figure. They are built for small amounts – precisely because modelling mixes by the drop, not by the millilitre.
