Lavender is a light lavender violet – soft, cool and very pleasant on cloth. It is used as a highlight step above the mid violets and as a colour in its own right for pale dresses, flowers and anything meant to feel gentle.

What it is good for on miniatures

  • Lavender cloth – dresses, ribbons and robes in a light palette.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from Blue Violet?
On the official Ionic colour chart these two shades share practically the same swatch. If you already own one, the other is unlikely to give you a new tone – check the actual jars.

What do I shade it with?
Purple or Deep Violet. A grey would turn it into an indeterminate tone with no character – lavender needs a violet shadow.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
