Medium-sized synthetic shrubs with a woody trunk, spring green. For 1:35, 75 and 90 mm scales.

A shrub is what breaks up the flat on a diorama. Grass and leaves lie down; a shrub has bulk and height, and that is exactly what gives a scene depth. These are medium-sized, carry a woody trunk that pushes into the groundwork, and the packaging is designed to keep every piece's shape random – no two are alike. The shade is spring green.

What it is for

  • Shrubs and bushes on dioramas and bases
  • Overgrown roadsides, ditches and wall footings
  • Breaking a flat surface with height and bulk
  • Combining several shades into one stand

What to pair it with

The other shade in the range is blooming yellow. Lower growth comes from the 4 mm grass tufts and static grass, and fine plants from the laser-cut ferns.

Frequently asked questions

How is a shrub fixed in place?
Push the trunk into the groundwork and secure it with a drop of PVA; in hard board, drill a close-fitting hole. Handle with tweezers – fingers crush the foliage and flattened branches never spring back.

Can the height be adjusted?
Yes, with small scissors. Trimming is the rule rather than the exception – a stand where the shrubs vary in height always reads more naturally than a row of identical ones.

Can shades be mixed?
They should be. Two or three shades in one stand remove the impression of artificial uniformity and make the scene look more alive.
