Black Forest is a near-black green with a blue cast – the colour of a forest at night. It is the deepest point of the green ladder and one of the best shading colours in the range: dark enough for contrast, coloured enough that the shadow never becomes a hole.

How do I paint a bush with depth?
Start with Black Forest over the whole shape, then dry-brush progressively lighter greens from above only. The bottom of the bush has to stay dark – depth comes from what you do not light.
How does it differ from Dark Green?
Black Forest is darker and bluer, Dark Green cleaner and greener. Black Forest is a shadow, Dark Green still a usable base.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
