Chibi Skin is a bright, almost orange flesh tone. It is deliberately stylised – on a realistic bust it would look overdone, but on chibi figures, animated characters and anywhere skin should read cheerful and saturated, it does exactly what it should.

What it is good for on miniatures

  • Chibi and stylised figures – a base coat that carries the whole skin without shading.
  • Cel-shaded painting – saturated skin with hard transitions.
  • Tanned skin – the mid tone for southern and desert types.
  • Warming flesh mixes – a drop in pale skin brings it to life at once.

What to combine it with

Build shadows with Imperial Flesh and Tanned Flesh, transitions and highlights with Gnome Skin and Elf Skin.

Frequently asked questions

Is it too orange for a normal figure?
On its own, yes. For realistic skin use it as an intermediate step or a glaze – mixed with Neutral Flesh it gives a very nice tanned tone.

How do I shade it in a cel-shaded style?
One hard step down, for example Imperial Flesh, with no blending. That hard edge is precisely what creates the animated look.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
