Do I need a special brush for contrast paints?
Not strictly, but the failure mode of contrast paint is a brush that empties too early. A high-load brush removes that problem entirely.
Can I use it with normal acrylics?
Yes, it behaves like a soft, very thirsty round brush – excellent for washes, less suited to crisp edge highlights.
How do I clean an AK synthetic brush?
Rinse it in clean water – or the matching thinner for enamels and oils – before the paint sets, work brush soap into the bristles with your fingers, reshape the tip and let it dry point-up. Never leave a brush standing in a jar. The cleaners are in thinners and cleaners.
Synthetic or Kolinsky sable?
Synthetic fibre is springier, cheaper and completely indifferent to harsh thinners, so it is the right choice for varnish, enamels, oils, pigments and every abrasive technique. Sable holds more liquid and comes to a finer point – that is the da Vinci brushes range. Most painters end up owning both and using each for what it does best.
