What it is for in figure painting

How does the Intense range differ from Standard?
Higher pigment concentration and purity – more saturated, better coverage. The label has a yellow circle; Standard has an orange one.
Why not shade with pure black?
Because black strips a colour of its identity and the shadow reads as a hole. Shade coloured areas with a darker version of the same colour – keep black for the deepest points and for contrast.
How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
