Blood Moon Red is a dark red pulling towards pink – something between wine and old rose. It is the colour to pick when a dark red should look elegant rather than earthy. As a shade it works very well under pinks and crimsons.

What it is good for on miniatures

Frequently asked questions
When do I use Blood Moon Red and when Wine Red?
Blood Moon Red is pinker, Wine Red more violet. Shading a pink or magenta, take Blood Moon Red; for a clean red, Wine Red.
Can I use it over a whole garment?
Yes, and it looks good. It does need highlights, though – without them a dark crimson reads as a black patch on a figure.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
