Dark Green is a dark clean green – the main shade of the green ladder and a saturated base coat for dark green cloth. Unlike Black Forest it still holds a clearly green character, so it also works as a colour in its own right.

Build shadows with Black, transitions and highlights with Green and Orc Green.
Why shade green with green rather than black?
Green with black loses its hue and the area looks like mould. A darker green darkens while keeping the tone – the transition stays clean and the figure looks more alive.
Can I use it over a whole area?
Yes, but it needs highlights. An unlit dark green merges with the shadows and the cloak loses its shape.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
