Grape Red is a dark red with a strong violet core – the colour of ripe grapes. It is one of the best shading colours in the whole range because it sits under reds, pinks and violets alike and never looks dirty. On a figure it gives dark areas colour instead of plain darkness.

Why use a coloured shadow instead of black?
A black shadow kills the hue and the area reads as a hole. A coloured shadow – grape, violet, blue – keeps the area readable and the figure looks more alive.
Can I use it as a glaze?
Yes, and it is one of its best uses. Heavily thinned it runs over a whole volume and unifies it without dirtying it.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
