Demon Red is a muted dusty pink-brown – a red that has lost its saturation and gained earthiness. It is an unobtrusive but very useful colour: on skin it gives a natural flush, on cloth a faded character, and in shadows it adds warmth without shouting.

What it is good for on miniatures
- A flush on skin – cheeks, nose, ears and knuckles.

What to combine it with
Build shadows with Grape Red and Scab Red, transitions and highlights with Old Red and Devil Red.
Frequently asked questions
Why is it called Demon Red when it is so muted?
The name comes from the original palette and refers to muted demonic skin rather than a saturated red. If you want a fiery demon colour, take Devil Red.
How do I get natural-looking cheeks with it?
Thinned into a very light glaze, two or three passes on the top of the cheek only. One thick coat looks like lipstick – a flush has to be built, not applied.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
