Graveyard Earth is a mid earth brown with no red cast – the colour of dry soil and a trodden path. It is the most useful brown for bases: it covers well, takes dry-brushing and glazing alike, and supports any vegetation on top.

What it is good for on miniatures

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a base that does not look like a brown disc?
Irregularity. Base with Graveyard Earth, add patches of darker and lighter brown, a few stones in another colour, and only then the grass. Soil is never one colour.
What do I highlight it with?
Sand or Desert Sand, and Old Bone on the highest edges. Not white – it turns brown into grey.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
