Lilac from the AK 3rd Generation range – a light lilac violet for clothing, highlights and soft effects. Matt acrylic.

Lilac is a light, slightly greyed violet – the colour of lilac blossom. Softer than Purple and more saturated than Pastel Violet, it fills exactly the gap that most often goes missing when painting violet areas.

Frequently asked questions

How do I highlight violet without greying it out?
Do not add white straight into a saturated violet – you get a muddy grey-violet. Go through Lilac first and only then towards white.

Lilac or Pastel Violet?
Lilac is more saturated and more colourful; Pastel Violet is paler and more muted. Lilac for highlights, Pastel Violet for calm clothing.

How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
