Ocean Blue is a dark green-blue – the colour of open sea at a depth where the bottom is no longer visible. It is more saturated and more colourful than Dark Sea Blue, so it works as a colour in its own right on cloth and scales, not only as a shade.

How do I paint scales?
Base with Ocean Blue, make each scale darker at the lower edge and lighter at the upper one, and finish by painting a few scales deliberately off-colour. Even scales read as printed fabric.
What do I highlight it with?
Turquoise and Light Turquoise. White would turn it into a pale grey-blue and the scales would lose their colour.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
