Oxford Blue is a dark grey with a blue-violet core – muted enough that on a figure it reads as a dark grey rather than a blue. That is exactly what makes it so good for uniforms and for black cloth that should not be truly black.

Is it a blue or a grey?
Practically a grey with a blue undertone. If you want a real dark blue, take Prussian Blue or Midnight Blue.
How do I paint a black uniform with it?
Base with Oxford Blue, put black or Dark Violet in the folds and draw the edges up with Misty Grey. The result reads better than true black and photographs far better.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
