Prussian Blue is a deep dark blue with a long history – exactly the one you know from Napoleonic uniforms. On a figure it is the most used shade of the blue ladder and at the same time a dependable base coat for dark blue cloth.

How do I paint a Napoleonic coat?
Base with Prussian Blue, shade the folds with Midnight Blue, highlight the edges with Rainfall Blue and paint the buttons last. Highlights on a uniform are narrow and regular – do not make wool shiny.
How does it differ from Astral Blue?
Prussian Blue is cleaner and slightly lighter, Astral Blue more violet and darker. Use Prussian Blue for uniforms and Astral Blue for night scenes.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
