Stonewall Grey is a mid grey with a warm mauve cast – the colour of an old wall and dusty cloth. It is not a cold technical grey; it carries enough warmth to sit naturally next to flesh tones and browns.

When should I use a warm grey instead of a cold one?
Whenever skin, wood or brown sits next to it. A cold grey next to flesh tones reads as a foreign object – a warm grey holds the scene together.
How do I paint greying hair?
Base with Stonewall Grey, shade with a warm brown and highlight with Moon Grey and Ivory. Pure white hair reads as a wig – grey hair always has a warm undertone.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
