Elf Skin is a pale peach flesh tone – fair skin that still has blood in it. It is one of the most used flesh colours there is: a base for fair characters, a highlight on darker ones, and a mixing tone anywhere skin needs softening.

What it is good for on miniatures

  • Fair skin – a base coat for elves, northern and pale characters.
  • Highlights on darker skin – the transition point between mid tone and top highlight.
  • Hands and faces on small figures – one coat, a shade in the eyes and done.
  • Softening flesh mixes – it calms tones that are too pink or too yellow.

What to combine it with

Build shadows with Golden Flesh and Imperial Flesh, transitions and highlights with Pale Skin and Vampire Skin.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Elf Skin and Gnome Skin?
Elf Skin is paler and peachier, Gnome Skin pinker and warmer. Use Elf Skin for cool northern types and Gnome Skin for ruddy faces.

Does it cover black primer?
Not well. Flesh tones belong over grey or white – over black they lose their luminosity even in three coats.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
