Redder and coarser than Desert Sand – and that is a practical difference, not a marketing one. Desert is never uniform: windward faces, lee slopes and flats differ in both grain and tone. The maker therefore recommends combining the two; Sandy Desert on its own gives a scene a warmer, richer base for the fine sand to stand out against.

What it is good for
- A warm reddish base for a desert scene

What to combine it with
Combine with Terrains Desert Sand – coarse base, fine sand on top. Build rocky ground from Neutral Texture for Rough Terrain and settle dust with pigments from the Pigments category. Crack the ground with Light and Dry Crackle Effects.
FAQ
Is the tone strongly red?
It is not Martian soil – it is a warm sand tone with a red undertone. In a scene it reads naturally, especially under a vehicle in desert camouflage.
How do I blend the two sands?
Lay the coarser Sandy Desert as a base, let it dry, then apply fine Desert Sand in places. Unify the transition afterwards with dry pigment.
How do I clean my tools?
Water, as long as the paste is still wet. Rinse the spatula and the old brush right after use – cured acrylic paste will not come off.
Can the paste be thinned?
Yes, with water or acrylic thinner if you need it to flow better. Thinning costs it some shape retention, so go easy.
