Four camouflage colours for British and Allied vehicles in Africa, autumn 1942 to spring 1943. 4 × 17 ml.

A tightly focused set for a precise window: British and Commonwealth vehicles in North Africa from autumn 1942 to spring 1943 – El Alamein and the drive into Tunisia. The same colours served Canadian, Australian and New Zealand units. Four paints are enough because the camouflage of the period was simple: a base, one disruptive colour and black to break up the surfaces.

FAQ

Why only four colours?
Because the period needs no more. British desert camouflage rested on a base, one disruptive colour and black – the set is deliberately precise rather than general-purpose.

What do designations like S.C.C. No.14 mean?
They are British wartime shade standards – Standard Camouflage Colour. AK keeps them in the names so they can be traced in period regulations and photographs.

Can the paints be bought individually?
Yes. These are standard shades from the AK 3rd Generation range in 17 ml bottles, so when one runs out you only replace that one.

Can they be airbrushed?
Yes. Thinned with 3rd Generation thinner they pass through a 0.2 mm nozzle as easily as lacquer paints. Neat, they are meant for brushwork.

More paint sets are in the AK 3rd Generation Paint Sets category, and individual shades in AK 3rd Generation.
