A fixer for when the hold on a pigment needs to be genuinely permanent. It goes on like any other fixer – at the edge of the layer, from where it wicks underneath – but grips harder, which suits models that get handled and the lower layers of multi-stage weathering that must not move during later work. The Abteilung 502 range continues the MIG Productions pigments.

What to pair it with
The pigments it fixes are in this category, European earth or light rust for instance. A gentler alternative is AK048 Pigment Fixer, and thick mud is mixed with the acrylic resin.
Frequently asked questions
How does it differ from the AK fixer?
It grips harder. That is an advantage on models that get picked up, and a disadvantage where you still want to adjust the pigment – once dry there is no reworking it.
Does the fixer change the shade?
The pigment darkens while drying and returns close to its original dry colour afterwards. With stronger fixers a slight difference can remain, so test a final layer on an offcut.
Can it be used on AK pigments?
Yes. They are powder pigments on the same principle, so the fixer works across brands.
