Splittertarnmuster – the splinter pattern – was worn in the Second World War by the Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe paratroopers and other troops. The pattern has three layers: a base, hard-edged splinter spots and fine vertical rainmarks. The set gives exactly what that needs: three base options, because the cloth varied by factory and wear, two spot colours and one colour for the rainmarks.

What to combine it with

FAQ
In what order is the pattern painted?
Base first; once dry, the hard-edged green and brown splinters; finally the thin vertical rainmarks. The splinters must have sharp corners – rounded ones destroy the character of the pattern.
Why three base colours?
Cloth was produced in different batches through the war and faded with wear. Three variants let you paint a squad where not every soldier wears an equally new uniform.
Can the paints be bought individually?
Yes. These are standard shades from the AK 3rd Generation range in 17 ml bottles, so when one runs out you only replace that one.
Can they be airbrushed?
Yes. Thinned with 3rd Generation thinner they pass through a 0.2 mm nozzle as easily as lacquer paints. Neat, they are meant for brushwork.
