Rage Resin Models is the range with which AK Interactive entered the world of fantasy figures for wargames. It is built on the sculpts of Raul Garcia Latorre and his brand Enigma – his classic figures, now cast in resin by master Verdier. Jesilious, Flame of Pain is a 35 mm figure from that range, supplied as an unpainted casting. Resin wants preparation before painting: cut off the casting gate, run a scalpel or file along the mould line, and wash the piece in warm soapy water to remove any mould-release residue. Without that the paint will not hold even under primer – and it is the single most common reason paint lifts off resin.

What to pair it with
Resin needs a primer – paint will not hold without one. Painting is done with AK 3rd Generation acrylics or Ionic Smart Colors, and brushes are in the da Vinci category. The base is finished with AK textures and vegetation.
Frequently asked questions
Why does resin need washing?
Mould release is applied when the piece is cast, and traces of it stay on the surface. They are greasy, so primer will not key to them. A wash in warm soapy water with a brush deals with it.
What removes a mould line?
A sharp scalpel drawn across the line rather than along it works best. On larger surfaces a fine file or 600-grit and finer paper helps.
Does it come painted?
No, it is supplied unpainted and without a base.
