A plastic model kit of the German heavy tank Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I in its final production version, in 1/48 scale from the Taiwanese manufacturer AFV Club. The box holds plastic sprues, a photo-etched fret, vinyl tracks and a decal sheet. Forty-eighth is a comfortable scale for a tank: the model is large enough to work weathering on and still takes up far less shelf space than 1/35. The kit is supplied unpainted, without glue or paint.

What to pair it with
Plastic wants a primer, then paint and finally the soiling – Streaking Grime, Rust Streaks and Dust Effects. Dust and mud are added with pigments, and the groundwork under the model with AK textures.
Frequently asked questions
Are paint and glue included?
No. The kit contains only the parts, the photo-etched fret, the tracks and the decals. Paint, glue and primer are bought separately.
What are the tracks like?
Vinyl, so one-piece and flexible. They go on quickly, but not every paint keys to them equally – it is worth degreasing and priming them before painting.
What does “final version” mean?
The Tiger I was produced over several years and changed as it went. The final version has the revised turret with the new commander's cupola, steel-tyred road wheels and other late features.
