Magenta from the Ionic Smart Colors range – a deep saturated magenta for cloth and mixing. Matt 20 ml acrylic.

Magenta is a deep saturated magenta with a wine undertone. On its own it gives rich cloth with an almost velvet character, as a shade it sits under the whole pink and violet ladder, and in mixes it is one of the three primaries from which almost anything can be made.

What it is good for on miniatures

Frequently asked questions

Is Magenta the same as violet?
No. Magenta sits between red and violet and, unlike a violet, contains no blue. Side by side the difference is obvious.

Does it cover a dark base?
Surprisingly well – better than the pinks and most violets. Two thin coats are enough over black primer.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
