Ice is not simply transparent water – it has refraction, cracks and a matt surface. That is why Resin Ice is a kit rather than a single bottle: 120 ml of resin, 30 ml of hardener, 17 ml of an acrylic surface product and two syringes. The resin is cast in thin sheets that can be deliberately broken once cured – and those broken edges are what makes a floe look real.

What to combine it with
Apply the surface product from the kit to the finished pieces – the matt areas are what separates ice from glass. Build the surrounding snow from Terrains Snow, add a fine dusting with Snow Sprinkles and glittering fractures with Ice Sparkles. For clear water under the ice use Resin Water.
FAQ
How do I get broken floes?
Cast a thin sheet on a smooth non-porous surface – glass or silicone is ideal – and break it once cured. Fractured edges read as ice at scale; cut edges read as plastic.
Why is my ice fully transparent and unconvincing?
It has no surface. Use the acrylic product from the kit, or sand the surface lightly and add matt varnish – real ice is clear inside but matt outside.
Do I have to dam the base?
Yes. The resin is liquid and will find every gap. Seal the edges with modelling clay or masking tape before pouring.
How exact does the mixing ratio have to be?
Exactly as the instructions state, measured with the syringes. Excess hardener leaves a tacky surface that never cures.
