Is XL usable on figures at all?
On large busts and 75–90 mm figures, yes. On 28 mm it is a terrain and vehicle brush.
Can I use it with enamel streaking products?
Yes, the synthetic fibre is unaffected by enamel thinners – that is exactly what this shape is built for.
How do I clean an AK synthetic brush?
Rinse it in clean water – or the matching thinner for enamels and oils – before the paint sets, work brush soap into the bristles with your fingers, reshape the tip and let it dry point-up. Never leave a brush standing in a jar. The cleaners are in thinners and cleaners.
Synthetic or Kolinsky sable?
Synthetic fibre is springier, cheaper and completely indifferent to harsh thinners, so it is the right choice for varnish, enamels, oils, pigments and every abrasive technique. Sable holds more liquid and comes to a finer point – that is the da Vinci brushes range. Most painters end up owning both and using each for what it does best.
