4/0 is the smallest round AK makes in this line. Very little paint fits on it, and that is exactly why it works: you cannot flood an eye socket or a belt buckle with a brush that holds two drops. Use it for the last five percent of a figure, not for anything that needs to be covered.

Frequently asked questions
Why does it run out of paint so quickly?
Because it is meant to. A 4/0 holds enough for one or two marks – reload often and keep the paint thin enough to flow off the tip.
Can I paint eyes with this?
Yes, this is the size most painters use for eyes at 28–32 mm. Thin the paint, touch the tip down, and let capillary action place the dot instead of pushing it.
How do I clean an AK synthetic brush?
Rinse it in clean water – or the matching thinner for enamels and oils – before the paint sets, work brush soap into the bristles with your fingers, reshape the tip and let it dry point-up. Never leave a brush standing in a jar. The cleaners are in thinners and cleaners.
Synthetic or Kolinsky sable?
Synthetic fibre is springier, cheaper and completely indifferent to harsh thinners, so it is the right choice for varnish, enamels, oils, pigments and every abrasive technique. Sable holds more liquid and comes to a finer point – that is the da Vinci brushes range. Most painters end up owning both and using each for what it does best.
