What it is for in figure painting
- Lights and glass – over silver it reads as yellow glass.
- Fire effects – the brightest stage above orange.
- Tinting metal – turns silver into brass and gold into a warmer gold.
- Boosting yellow – a top glaze that gives yellow back its strength.
What to pair it with
Apply over finished, dry paint – best over Silver, white or Golden Yellow. With Clear Orange and Clear Red you can build a whole fire gradient.

Why doesn't Clear Yellow cover?
Because it isn't meant to – it is a transparent glaze. For an opaque yellow use Yellow or Golden Yellow.
How do I turn silver into brass?
Lay down Silver, let it dry and glaze one or two coats of Clear Yellow over it. The result is warmer and deeper than an ordinary brass paint.
How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
