Frequently asked questions
How do I make gold look expensive?
Through contrast. A Bronze or brown base, Gold on the surface, Brass or Silver on the edges and a brown glaze into every recess. Flat gold looks like plastic – gold lives on the difference between shine and shadow.
Does it cover a dark base?
Moderately. Metallics are less opaque – basing gold with a brown or Golden Yellow is worth doing and gives it a deeper tone as well.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
