Light Blue is a bright light blue pulling firmly towards turquoise – luminous, almost swimming-pool. It is an excellent colour for cold highlights, ice effects and anywhere blue should feel fresh rather than heavy.

What it is good for on miniatures

  • Cold highlights – on turquoise and blue cloth.
  • Ice effects – the light areas on ice and frost.
  • Shallow water – clear areas over sand.
  • Bright cloth – summer dresses and light cloaks.

What to combine it with

Build shadows with Dark Turquoise and Storm Blue, transitions and highlights with Verdigris and Cloud Blue.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from Sky Blue?
Light Blue is greener and more turquoise, Sky Blue a cleaner blue. Use Light Blue for water and ice, Sky Blue for sky and uniforms.

Is it good for highlighting blue cloth?
Yes, but it shifts the tone towards turquoise. If the blue should stay blue, highlight through Sky Blue.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
