Light Red is a bright light red with a slight pink undertone. It is the highlight point of the red ladder – without it you would have to lighten red with white and a cloak would suddenly turn pink. This colour keeps the red character even at the top of the ladder.

Why not highlight red with white?
White turns red into pink and the cloak loses saturation. Light Red or an orange keep the warmth – highlighting red through orange is almost always the better route.
How do I paint fresh blood?
Mix Light Red with a little Dark Red and put gloss varnish only on the droplets. Matt blood does not read as wet – the shine matters more than the colour.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
