Frequently asked questions
Can I use it with enamels and oils?
Yes. The synthetic fibre handles white spirit and enamel thinners without going limp, which natural hair does not tolerate nearly as well.
Why does my flat brush splay after a few sessions?
Paint has dried inside the ferrule. Load only the outer two thirds of the bristles and clean the brush before the paint sets; a conditioning fluid restores a splayed tip.
How do I clean an AK synthetic brush?
Rinse it in clean water – or the matching thinner for enamels and oils – before the paint sets, work brush soap into the bristles with your fingers, reshape the tip and let it dry point-up. Never leave a brush standing in a jar. The cleaners are in thinners and cleaners.
Synthetic or Kolinsky sable?
Synthetic fibre is springier, cheaper and completely indifferent to harsh thinners, so it is the right choice for varnish, enamels, oils, pigments and every abrasive technique.
