Frequently asked questions
Is it big enough to prime a whole model?
For 28–32 mm infantry, yes. For vehicles and terrain use a flat brush such as AK Synthetic Brush – Flat 4.
Why do my washes dry with tide marks?
Too much liquid sitting on a flat surface. Load less, and pull the excess off the high points with a clean damp brush before it dries.
How do I clean an AK synthetic brush?
Rinse it in clean water – or the matching thinner for enamels and oils – before the paint sets, work brush soap into the bristles with your fingers, reshape the tip and let it dry point-up. Never leave a brush standing in a jar. The cleaners are in thinners and cleaners.
Synthetic or Kolinsky sable?
Synthetic fibre is springier, cheaper and completely indifferent to harsh thinners, so it is the right choice for varnish, enamels, oils, pigments and every abrasive technique. Sable holds more liquid and comes to a finer point – that is the da Vinci brushes range. Most painters end up owning both and using each for what it does best.
