Bone is the classic bone colour – a warm cream with a yellow undertone that reads as bone the moment it is on the model. It covers well even over a mid-tone base and serves as the base coat of the whole bone ladder, with only shading and highlighting left to do.

How do I turn Bone into old bone?
A thin brown glaze into every recess, then Ivory dry-brushed along the edges. The more glazes, the older the bone.
Does it cover black primer?
In three thin coats, yes, but it is wasted effort. Base with a light grey or Fang Grey and put Bone over that.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
