What to pair it with
Lay it over a light base – ideally white or Pale Yellow. Build the surrounding glow with Clear Yellow and Clear Orange glazes.
Frequently asked questions
How do I paint a glowing lamp?
Keep the brightest point white, ring it with Laser Yellow and fade outwards with increasingly thinned orange glazes. The glow must fall off smoothly or it looks like a sticker.
Laser Yellow or Fluorescent Yellow?
Laser Yellow is cleaner and brighter; Fluorescent Yellow has a neon, slightly greenish cast. Laser for light, Fluorescent for hazard markings.
How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
