Red is a mid, muted red – the kind you get from natural dyes. It does not shout, which is why it works better on historical figures than the brighter reds. It is a solid base coat that takes both shade and highlight without ever looking artificial.

Build shadows with Dark Red and Wine Red, transitions and highlights with Devil Red and Old Red.
Is it saturated enough for a fantasy figure?
For a muted one, yes. If you want a glowing cloak, base with Red for its coverage and go over it with Blood Red or Superhero Red – it saves a coat and time.
How do I turn it into faded cloth?
Glaze Old Red on the raised areas and dry-brush an even lighter tone along the edges. Fading is always strongest where the cloth rubs.
How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
