What it is for in figure painting

Frequently asked questions
How do I paint lava?
Working outwards from the crack: white or Laser Yellow at the core, Volcanic Yellow around it, then orange, red and finally the dark stone crust. The contrast has to be extreme or the lava will not glow.
Volcanic Yellow or Golden Yellow?
Volcanic Yellow is more orange and more intense; Golden Yellow is calmer and more golden. Volcanic for fire, Golden for clothing and trim.
How do I thin it?
With water or an AK thinner. A few drops are enough for brush work; airbrushing needs more – AK thinners and cleaners are made for that. With acrylics, two thin coats always beat one thick one.
Is the finish really matt?
Yes, the 3rd Generation range dries matt. To protect the figure or even out the sheen, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
