A small pot for small water. Puddles is a lightly tinted, self-levelling liquid applied with a brush straight into a depression – a track rut, a footprint, a dip in cobbles. It is not crystal clear like Still Water; it carries a dirty cast, so it reads as water that has been sitting there for days. Sixty millilitres lasts dozens of bases because it goes on drop by drop.

What it is good for
- A puddle in a track or wheel rut
- Water standing in a boot print in mud
- Wet dips in the cobbles of a city scene
- Dirty water in a crater or at the bottom of a trench
What to combine it with
Lay the mud with Terrains Wet Ground or Terrains Muddy Ground, press the marks into the wet paste and pour the puddles once it is dry. Add spray around the wheels with Splatter Effects Wet Mud. For a large continuous surface use Still Water instead.
FAQ
Why did my puddle disappear as it dried?
It soaked into the base. Seal porous pastes and plaster with varnish or thinned acrylic first, then pour the puddle.
Can Puddles be turned into a frozen puddle?
Yes. Let it cure, coat it with a thin layer of gloss varnish and dust the edges with Ice Sparkles. That gives ice the sharp glint a plain puddle lacks.
How do I clean my tools?
Water, as long as the material is still wet. Rinse the brush right after use – use an old brush for puddles, not a good detail one.
How much can I pour at once?
Up to 3 mm per application. Build deeper water in layers or the centre will stay milky.
